1000 Metric Tons Per Year Riboflavin (Vitamin B2) Crystal Production Plant

ABSTRACT

A Riboflavin crystal (Vitamin B2) production plant is to be set-up at Tongi, Gazipur in Bangladesh, having capacity 3 Ton of per day, corresponding to 1000 Ton of riboflavin crystal per year including all offsite auxiliaries, utilities and support facilities using glucose , vegetable oils and nutrients as feedstock applying Candida famata fermentation process . Glucose and stipulated nutrients with certain ratio with respect to the specific amount of biomass are used as raw materials while the riboflavin is set to produce in the fermenter where compressed air is supplied to have an aerobic process. The products of the bioreactor are then gone through the operation of crystallizer and decanter. In crystallizer the riboflavin suspension produced in fermenter gives crystal with definite percentage and the decanter separates the aqueous and oil fraction and the product from the decanter is ready to enter then to the rotary dryer where the desired purity of crystal with the suspension of riboflavin is attained.
